Blue is the second studio album by American rock band Third Eye Blind, released on November 23, 1999. The album's creation was difficult, namely due to power struggles and arguments between frontman Stephan Jenkins and lead guitarist Kevin Cadogan, leading to a quick but isolated recording experience between members. The album was generally well received by critics, and was certified platinum by the RIAA, but performed below the band's prior album, the multi-platinum Third Eye Blind

There were several important records released in 1959, but no event or recording matches the importance of the release of the new Miles Davis album Kind of Blue on 17 August 1959. It sold very well from its first day, and it has sold increasingly well ever since. It is the best-selling jazz album in the Columbia Records catalogue, and at the end of the twentieth century it was voted one of the ten best albums ever.

Kind of Blue is widely regarded to be one of the best, if not the best, jazz album ever recorded. It also holds the record of the best-selling jazz album of all-time. While younger artists looked for guidance from Davis, he looked for new talent and ideas. Miles discovered Bill Evans in the mid-1950s, whom he eventually instated into his group. Kind of Blue Q&A. Famously, the players had not seen or played the pieces before they entered the studio. Pianist Bill Evans describes in the original liner notes the brief guidelines they were given. I'm on my third listen of this album - having compared it against my original CD recording from Columbia Records CK64935 - and all I can say is it simply sucks. There's no way this is the widely lauded Japanese import. wonder if that will happen now that I've unwrapped it.

Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue hardly needs an introduction. Many thousands of words have been written about its legendary composition and recording, about the extraordinary ensemble responsible for its existence-Davis, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Paul Chambers, Jimmy Cobb, and a young Bill Evans-and about the year of its release, 1959, a watershed moment in the history of jazz, and of nearly all modern music  . As is now part of jazz folklore, notes Fordham, the New York sessions that produced this remarkable album were completed in a handful of takes over just a few hours, with a minimum of compositional materials.
