The teddy bear toss is a popular Christmas season promotion most common at ice hockey games. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears or other stuffed toys to the game, and to throw them onto the ice when the home team scores its first goal. The toys are gathered up to be donated as presents to hospitals and charities. In many cases, the players themselves personally donate some of the bears to children at area hospitals. The Hershey Bears claim a world record of 34,798 stuffed toys in a single game.

A teddy bear is a soft toy in the form of a bear. Developed apparently simultaneously by toymakers Morris Michtom in the . and Richard Steiff in Germany in the early years of the 20th century, and named after President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, the teddy bear became an iconic children's toy, celebrated in story, song, and film. Since the creation of the first teddy bears which sought to imitate the form of real bear cubs, "teddies" have greatly varied in form, style, color, and material.

Title: The Eyes of Tiresias (04 Dec 1999). For my money Jonathan Creek was at its peak in these early years, and The Eyes of Tiresias is a fine example, it's intriguing, funny, baffling, beautifully imaginative and all in all just great viewing. The plot is exceptional, how on Earth could an old Lady foresee three deaths, of course it's up to Jonathan to get to the bottom of things, literally. The Pride and Prejudice side story is a nice touch, but of course it's the baffling story of the death of Monsieur Masson that is most interesting, it's so cleverly written, you'd never guess the outcome. Everyone knows Teddy Bear. But why he was called Teddy? Why not Harry or John or Jane? The story goes back to 1902, when Theodore Roosevelt was President of the United States. The press and the people called him Teddy. He didn’t like the name, but accepted it. It made him seem more informal to the people he served. In November 1902 President Roosevelt decided to go out hunting for the day. After several hours, he still hadn’t bagged anything. Then one of his aides discovered a lost bear cub wandering through the woods.
