The main interest for collectors is the track "Embryo," an outtake from "Ummagumma" that later became a concert staple in a greatly elongated form, which originally only appeared in January 1970 on a scarce various artists compilation album promoting Pink Floyd's UK label Harvest Records entitled "Picnic - A Breath of Fresh Air"

Animals is the tenth studio album by English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 21 January 1977 through Harvest and Columbia Records. It was recorded at the band's Britannia Row Studios in London throughout 1976, and was produced by the band. The album continues the longform compositions that made up their previous works, including Wish You Were Here (1975).
The album was Pink Floyd’s debut record and was released on August 5th 1967. The cover photo was shot by photographer Vic Singh. The photo was shot through the glass of a prism lens. The concept of the artwork was to mimic the visualized response of an LSD trip. In 1967, LSD was a popular drug used by the youth culture that intertwined within the concepts of psychedelic music and art. What was most interesting about the cover shoot besides the concepts of psychedelia was that the prism glass was given to the photographer by The Beatles George Harrison. The Pink Floyd box set Shine On defined the process and intent of the cover of Meddle. On the cover was a picture of an ear underneath the water.

In this age of digital downloads, there's no real reason to own it today. Let's start with the obvious: Pink Floyd is one of the greatest, and most important, rock bands of all time. These included the Syd Barrett years, the early post-Barrett period, the classic period (when they released all of their most highly acclaimed albums), and the post-Waters period.
