With his Red Raven Orchestra, named after the Red Raven Polka, competed in polka contests against the bands of Frankie Yankovic, Whoopee John Wilfahrt, Romy Gosz, Louis Bashell, and Harold Loeffelmacher. Lawrence played many of his shows at Kleist's Hall in Potter, WI. He was the son of Adolph Duchow, of Hilbert, WI. At one time, he had a weekly radio show on WGN in Chicago. Dave Clark's "Time" is a concept album based on Dave Clark's 1986 musical Time. It was released in vinyl as a double LP (Catalog number: AMPM 1, EQ 5003) and in cassette format. It sold over two million copies and spawned four hit singles, one by Julian Lennon and two by Cliff Richard. Another song, "In My Defence", became a posthumous hit for Freddie Mercury in 1992.

Lawrence Duchow served in the Army until a medical discharge sent him back to the band and his public. After the dissolution of his orchestra in 1953, the traveling music library was sold to Don Peachy of Burnette, Wisconsin. Jay Wells of Appleton and Andy Anderson received the rights of the Red Raven Orchestra name and the rest of the library in 1960. Duchow settled in California, where he developed a store coupon brokerage firm called the Lawrence Duchow Markets. He also was a booking agent for West Coast orchestras
