Funkadelic is the debut album by the American funk band Funkadelic, released in 1970 on Westbound Records. The album showcases a strong bass and rhythm section, as well as lengthy jam sessions, future trademarks of the band. The album contains two remakes of songs from The Parliaments, an earlier band featuring George Clinton: "I'll Bet You" and "Good Old Music".
As usual, Mastercuts does nothing with the outside packaging to indicate that you are getting anything but the real deal. And, even if this set did contain all the original studio versions, it still wouldn't be all that recommendable; the track selection is peculiar and spotty to say the least
Your essential P-Funk primer. When George Clinton emerged from the mothership in the ’70s it’s fair to say that funk would never be the same again. Through his two groups Parliament and Funkadelic he took funk through free-form hippie Hendrix-workship, led James Brown’s rhythm section on a crash course in psychic liberation, and then to top it all off, took a trip outta space to lay the foundations for modern hip-hop.
Funkadelic was an American band that was most prominent during the 1970s. The band and its sister act Parliament, both led by George Clinton, pioneered the funk music culture of that decade. Relative to its sister act, Funkadelic pursued a heavier, psychedelic rock-oriented sound. The group that would become Funkadelic was formed by George Clinton in 1964, as the unnamed backing section for his doo wop group The Parliaments while on tour.
Funkadelic moved to Warner Bros. The same year, Westbound raided its vaults and countered with Tales of Kidd Funkadelic. Ironically, the album did better than Hardcore Jollies and included an R&B Top 30 single, "Undisco Kidd. In 1977, Westbound released The Best of the Early Years while Funkadelic recorded what became its masterpiece (and arguably the best P-Funk release ever), 1978's One Nation Under a Groove.
Not one of the songs are out-of-place, like you'll unfortunately find on most other P-Funk albums. and their involvement is a plus in my book!). A must have for fans of blues, psychedelic rock, funk and soul!
en référence à Funkadelic, LP, Album, RE, SEW 010. Considering I bought this LP brand new, the copy I got is pretty well warped. I bought the European vinyl reissues of the first 3 Funkadelic albums altogether.
