Innervisions is the 16th studio album by American musician Stevie Wonder, released August 3, 1973, on the Tamla label for Motown Records, a landmark recording of his "classic period". The nine tracks of Innervisions encompass a wide range of themes and issues: from drug abuse in "Too High", through inequality and systemic racism in "Living for the City", to love in the ballads "All in Love Is Fair" and "Golden Lady".

Wonder also made no secret of the fact that "He's Misstra Know-It-All" was directed at Tricky Dick, aka Richard Milhouse Nixon, then making headlines (and destroying America's faith in the highest office) with the biggest political scandal of the century.

Stevie Wonder – Innervisions. on Rolling Stones Top 500 Albums list. Might I be one to say that this album has a lot of different points to it. The first track, Too High is a nice little jazz song. It has all the doo-wops that you need to make a soul song. But the second, and title track, Innervisions is a slow and dreary step into the album. Living For The City is the best song on this album. In my opinion it’s the best Stevie Wonder song I’ve ever heard. The gut-wrenching lyrics are of a story, a young black man trying to get away from slavery in the south, therefore he makes his way to New York. He’s not there for five minutes before he gets arrested and beaten and thrown in jail.

Stevie Wonder - "Innervisions". Wonder's 1973 album turns 40 today. The test for whether or not an album is a classic has more to do with lasting appeal and endurance than instant impact. In 1973 Stevie Wonder’s Innervisions hit hard immediately, first. America was grappling with racism, poverty and a rampant drug epidemic, among other issues. At 23, Wonder was already a seasoned musician with several albums released as a musical wiz kid and as a fresh-faced adult.

Stevie Wonder - Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing. Album : Innervisions (1973). Label : Tamla, Motown. Catalog No. : UICY-9252. Written, Arranged, Produced by Stevie Wonder. One of those excellent finds though was Stevie Wonder and his magnum opus Innervisions. Sure he had other great albums, but none touch the pure genius of this 1973 album. If all this album had were Higher Ground and Living for the City, it would already be a great album, but every track is a great song and an immediate hit. The tune though that kicks off this Soul Week is Golden Lady, the first song that leaped out from my phone that early morning. I had heard it plenty of times before, but now with fresh ears it was something wholly different and exciting.

Notes

Label and pressing variation, different text layout with small 1 inch diameter pressing ring, pressed by RCA Records Pressing Plant, Hollywood as indicated by stamped 'H' in runouts, differs from Innervisions.
Very similar to Stevie Wonder - Innervisions (same label variation and both pressed at RCA, Hollywood, mastered at Kendun etc.), main difference is that this release has T 326V1 catalog number on cover (instead of the original T 326L).

Note that the back cover indicates the following credits, which are inconsistent with the info found in the runouts for this version of the release:

Back cover "Mastering: George Marino, The Cutting Room, New York"

The runouts indicate that this particular pressing was cut at Kendun Recorders.

First catalog number on cover, second catalog number on labels.

Gatefold cover, includes 'The Songs of Stevie Wonder' promotional 'order blank' inner sleeve.
