A long-standing trio from Houston's notorious Fifth Ward, aka Bloody Nickel. E-Rock, 007, and Lo Life have been crafting some of the tightest southern Gangsta Rap since their 1991 debut Ghetto Dope. Ghetto Dope is the debut album by the 5th Ward Boyz, released on May 18, 1993 through Rap-a-Lot Records. The album featured production from Mike Dean, . Joe, James Smith and John Bido. Ghetto Dope peaked at number 176 on the Billboard 200, 19 on the R&B charts and 26 on the Heatseekers chart. The first artists brought to Rap-a-Lot Records after the infamous Geto Boys, 5th Ward Boyz originally comprised Andre "007" Barnes and Eric "E-Rock" Taylor. The trio originally recorded for Dewey Forker's Underground Records, but moved through a deal between Forker and Rap-a-Lot chief James Smith.
