An Old-Fashioned Christmas is the second Christmas album and posthumous twelfth studio album by American music duo Carpenters, released on September 28, 1984 and after the death of singer and drummer Karen Carpenter. The album project had its genesis in several unused tracks from the Carpenters' previous Christmas album, 1978's Christmas Portrait. Richard Carpenter took these tracks and recorded new material around them, and this album was the end result.

An Old-Fashioned Christmas is a Christmas album by Carpenters, released in 1984 after the death of singer/drummer Karen Carpenter. The album (in its original LP and cassette form) includes the slow version of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" (a faster version appeared on the Christmas Portrait album).

At the turn of the century, the main mode of winter transportation was by horse drawn sleigh or "cutter", as is depicted here. The scene is typical of many communities in Eastern Canada and the North Eastern United States. It is dawn on Christmas morning, and people are gathering at the church for an early Christmas service. The couple in the sleigh are dressed in their finest clothing, bundled up against the cold. The horse is a large hackney horse, a breed that is used for driving and lift their feet smartly and carry their heads and tails high, trotting smartly over the snow.
