Mona Richardson was an American born singer and actress who had performed with Johnny Otis, Ray Charles and Ike Turner. She ended up in Australia where she died in 1985. She released a number of singles and albums for the Philips, RCA Victor and EMI labels. Mona Richardson was a blues, jazz and soul singer. She was born in Los Angeles California on February 5, 1947. She came to Australia in 1980 and decided to stay. She was still in Australia when she died in 1985.
Mona is the debut album by the American alternative rock band Mona. It was released in the United Kingdom and Europe on May 16, 2011 via Zion Noiz Recordings/Island Records and in the United States on February 28, 2012 via Zion Noiz Recordings/Mercury Records. The album was recorded and produced by the band independently and mixed by producer Rich Costey. Four singles were released from the album in the UK: "Listen to Your Love", "Trouble On the Way", "Teenager" and "Shooting the Moon".
MONA is a project started by Nick Brown. Though there has been a revolving cast of band members, Nick has been the sole driving force behind the band. He began in Dayton, Ohio, though he is now based in Nashville, Tennessee. Brown revealed the band's name refers to his grandmother, Mona Brown. The band rose to fame appearing as part of the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll; which was revealed on 5 December 2010. The band was also crowned the Brand New for 2011 title at the MTV Awards
