Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks is the ninth solo studio album by British ambient musician Brian Eno, released in 1983. It was written, produced, and performed by Brian Eno, his brother Roger and Daniel Lanois. Music from the album appeared in the films 28 Days Later, Traffic, and Trainspotting, whose soundtrack sold approximately four million copies. Two of the songs from the album, "Silver Morning" and "Deep Blue Day", were issued as a 7" single on EG Records.
Ambient 1: Music for Airports is the sixth studio album by Brian Eno. It was released by Polydor Records in 1978. The album consists of four compositions created by layering tape loops of differing lengths. It was the first of four albums released in Eno's "Ambient" series, a term which he coined to differentiate his experimental and minimalistic approach to composition from "the products of the various purveyors of canned music"
Brian Eno, A Year with Swollen Appendices. On that album, Eno and Byrne sought to catalyse new musical narratives with their cutting and pasting of found and sampled sounds, but Pareles saw an ethical problem in what he deemed the album's tendency towards dehistoricisation and cultural tourism.

Critics shower this Eno album with the highest accolades, and it does contain many qualities that have stood the test of time. However, if you are hearing it for the first time, it may be hard to discern its value as the pioneering effort of electronica and ambiance that it is. One of the problems I hear with 3 decades of hindsight is that the effort is somewhat schizophrenic, with Eno alternating between quirky pop ditties and truly ambient atmospherics. The musicianship is generally excellent on the album. For the first time since Brian Eno went solo itīs obvious that this is a keyboard playerīs solo album. The sound production must have seemed futuristic at the time of the albumīs release.
The album features various guest musicians, including members of Roxy Music, Hawkwind, Matching Mole and Pink Fairies, as well as Chris Spedding, and Robert Fripp of King Crimson, who collaborated with Eno a year before in (No Pussyfooting). It was re-issued on compact disc in 1990 on Island Records and in 2004 on Virgin Records, and continued to elicit praise.
Next month, Brian Eno releases his new album, The Ship, which is just the latest in an impressively productive streak in the past half decade, in which he’s released a handful of solo albums, a collaboration with poet Rick Holland, and two collaborative albums with Underworld’s Karl Hyde. Another Green World made great use of Eno’s Oblique Strategies, the card deck of creative philosophies designed to upend even whole concepts in one sitting. Various Artists – No New York (1979; Antilles). It may come as a surprise that Brian Eno produced this legendary no-wave comp, featuring four tracks each by four different artists.
