An Article From Life is not the first retrospective of the musical career of Frizzell, it is the third, and this time the definitive one. In 1984, the label released the 14-LP set, Lefty Frizzell: His Life and Music and then, in 1992, came the 12-CD box set, Life's Like Poetry. Now the label has assembled Frizzell's complete oreavur in a fully-appointed 20-CD boxed set fit for a comprehensive overview. This is the most definitive collection of the work of a single artist in the Bear Family Catalog. So when is it just too much. When is everything more than necessary?

Lefty Frizzell has always played a pivotal role in the history of Bear Family Records

William Orville "Lefty" Frizzell (March 31, 1928 – July 19, 1975), was an American country music singer-songwriter and honky-tonk singer. He gained prominence in 1950 after two major hits, and throughout the decade was a very popular country performer. Frizzell remains the only country singer to have four songs that reached No. 1 on the Billboard country chart in one year (1951).

A massive new Lefty Frizzell box set, An Article From Life: The Complete Recordings, is set for release October 19 that will feature 20 CDs of Frizzell s recordings. 9. Glad I Found You. 10. Now That You Are Gone. 11. From An Angel To A Devil. 12. Lover By Appointment. 13. Sick, Sober And Sorry.

Lefty Frizzell’s Recordings Collected for Massive New Box Set. Bear Family Records will release 20-disc ‘An Article From Life: The Complete Recordings’ in October. By. Stephen L. Betts. In October 1950, Texas-born William Orville Frizzell (nicknamed Lefty after a schoolyard fight) debuted on the country chart with a double-sided hit, If You’ve Got the Money, I’ve Got the Time and I Love You a Thousand Ways. By Christmas of that year, the record was Number One, spending three weeks atop the chart and heralding the arrival of one of the greatest honky-tonk performers of the golden era of country music. His second collection by the label, Life’s Like Poetry followed the 1984 14-album compilation, His Life, His Music. In 1972, Frizzell was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and a decade later would be enshrined in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
