Misses intends to round up the best of Joni Mitchell's failed singles and forgotten album tracks, which is a daunting task, to be sure. Mitchell is out to prove that her neglected Geffen recordings during the '80s were as consistent as her classic '70s albums for Reprise.
This album (released on the same day as its counterpart, Misses) compiles some of Mitchell’s most widely-loved songs. Featuring Lookout Mountain United Downstairs Choir. Producers Joni Mitchell & Larry Klein. Writers Alex North, Hy Zaret & Joni Mitchell. Acoustic Guitar Joni Mitchell.
Exclusively for Prime members. Sample this album Artist (Sample). She has another album she wryly calls "Misses" which are others she considers her best even though they were not commercially successful. Yet that is a terrific album as well. From the opening "Urge For Going", made famous by folk singer Tom Rush, to "Both Sides Now", popularized by Judy Collins, we find many of Joni's best work was interpreted quite successfully by other artists.

Album · 1996 · 15 Songs. It’s telling that it took until 1996 for Joni Mitchell’s first greatest-hits album hit the market-with the provision that she be allowed to compile a companion album of Misses. The obvious songs are here- Big Yellow Taxi, Woodstock, Help Me, Free Man in Paris, River, Both Sides Now -and the album features the first LP appearance of her 1967 version of Urge for Going (covered by Tom Rush on his excellent The Circle Game album), previously only a b-side. This is a quick summary that’s perfect for those raised on Top 40 radio of the ‘60s and ‘70s.
