The Rolling Stones finally delivered a set of all-original material with this LP, which also did much to define the group as the bad boys of rock & roll with their sneering attitude toward the world in general and the female sex in particular.

Between the Buttons is the fifth British and seventh American studio album by The Rolling Stones, released on 20 January 1967 in the UK and 11 February in the US as the follow-up to Aftermath. It was the beginning of the Stones' brief foray into psychedelia. It is among the band's most musically adventurous works; by the time principal recording occurred on the album, founder Brian Jones had all but abandoned his original role as guitarist, instead playing a wide variety of other instruments.

Aftermath, released in April 1966 by Decca Records, is the fourth British studio album by the Rolling Stones. It was issued in the United States in June 1966 by London Records as the group's sixth American album  .

aftermath (the rolling stones album) Aftermath, released in April 1966 by Decca Records, is the fourth British studio album by the Rolling Stones It was issued in the United States in June 1966 by London Records as the group's sixth American album The album is considered an artistic breakthrough for the band: it is the first to consist entirely of Mick. According to Bill Wyman in Rolling With The Stones, the album was originally conceived as the soundtrack for the never filmed feature Back, Behind And In Front The whole deal fell off, though, when Jagger met with the potential director, Nicholas Ray, but didn't like him These recording sessions were also very busy for the group, as they recorded 21 Jagger–Richards.

Aftermath was The Rolling Stones’ fourth album in the UK, where it reached N. after being released by Decca Records on 15 April 1966. In the US, however, it was released two months later, on 20 July, by London Records. The US Aftermath also has one very significant track difference: it opens with ‘Paint It, Black’, a song that topped the Billboard Hot 100 on 11 June 1966 and stayed there for two weeks, and which provided the perfect springboard to launch the album into the US charts. The cohesion and overall sound and feel of Aftermath was improved by the inclusion of the band’s third American N. in less than a year. Listen to the US version of Aftermath right now. ‘Paint It, Black’ was recorded at the same March 1966 session in Hollywood as much of the rest of Aftermath.

Is Aftermath the best album by The Rolling Stones? BestEverAlbums. com brings together thousands of 'greatest ever album' charts and calculates an overall ranking. It sounds as if the Rolling Stones have matured from their previous work. Aftermath does feature more country-oriented works, like 'Doncha Bother Me' and 'High and Dry', neither of which seem jarring when compared the rest of the tracklisting. High and Dry' even has an interesting percussion effect that I'm not quite sure how they made. This album is a rock album, through and through.
