Diamond Dogs is the eighth studio album by the English musician David Bowie, released on 24 May 1974 by RCA Records. Thematically, it was a marriage of the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell and Bowie's own glam-tinged vision of a post-apocalyptic world. Bowie had wanted to make a theatrical production of Orwell's book and began writing material after completing sessions for his 1973 album Pin Ups, but the author's estate denied the rights.

Diamond Dogs ‎(LP, Album, TP, W/Lbl). Quite possibly the best Bowie album ever - 'Big Bother' is one of the finest tracks Bowie has recorded. Superb sound quality too on the original gatefold UK and everyone should grab a copy. Responder Notifícame Helpful. 9 de febrero de 2015.

Eventually, David Bowie Diamond Dogs became his own glam-trash expression of such a world, and the songs he had already written for his musical wound up on the latter half of this album, in which the 1984 theme is most prominent. The album opened with David Bowie howling in his distinctive voice like a wild dog, in keeping with the striking, grotesque and controversial cover art of him stylized as a lean dog with fully visible genitalia. The last track, Chant of the Ever Circling Skeletal Family was a circular, somehow irresistible ear worm that ended on a stuck note, repeating the first syllable of the word brother ( bruh ) over and over until finally fading out. The sense of impending doom on this track feels like the inevitable result of the apocalypse Bowie has described throughout the album.

Diamond Dogs is one of the most important albums David Bowie ever released. It captures him at a rather tangled transitional phase - battling with the glam rock splendour of the past, whilst sowing the tentative soul seeds of the future; of which, would come to dominate Young Americans the following year. Because of its awkward position, Diamond Dogs is album of many contractions; featuring some of Bowie’s finest moments, but at the cost of a disconcerting listening experience for the consumer. It’s all rather muddled. It’s a loose concept album based on George Orwell’s seminal 1984, but said.

David Bowie's third consecutive UK chart-topper and . Top 5 breakthrough, 1974’s Diamond Dogs is a bummer, a bad trip, "No Fun"–a sustained work of decadence and dread that transforms corrosion into celebration.

Diamond Dogs - 9/10 The albums title track starts off as sort of a hypnotic zombie style march, but then quickly shoots of into sort of a jazzy rock song about the Diamond Dogs, who are presumably one of two things. or Ghoulish blood sucking whores. Either way, this track is really snazzy.
