Run-DMC was an American hip hop group from Hollis, Queens, New York, founded in 1981 by Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels, and Jason Mizell. Run-DMC is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential acts in the history of hip hop culture and one of the most famous hip hop acts of the 1980s. Along with LL Cool J, the Beastie Boys, and Public Enemy, the group pioneered new school hip hop music. Run-DMC was the first group in the genre to have an album certified gold (Run–D.
On each album there are only 2-3 good tracks but they have got everybody talking about rap and took it to a higher level and showed every rap artist what could be achieved. And I don't doubt there love for the music. So there could not be better people then these 3 cool dudes to promote rap music in the middle of the 80's. A bit like the Beastie Boys at the time

Does Run-DMC Have The First Classic Album? Darryl McDaniels Weighs In. August 2, 2016 2:05 P. Run-DMC, the Kings from Queens, had their legacy widely respected from both rock and rap publications, as they rewrote the G-code with every new single, album and music video they released throughout the 1980s. Today, the group’s name is synonymous with a myriad of cultural appreciation such as fashion (adidas® Shell Toe; leather jackets), remembrance (. to Jam Master Jay and the basic art of deejaying) and quintessential rhymes ( I won’t stop rockin’ till I retire! ). Darry McDaniels recently found his way back into the news when he opened up about his battle with depression that almost.
Run DMC gave rap both its first gold album (Run DMC, 1984) and its first platinum album (King of Rock, 1985). They also took rap into the Top Ten when they collaborated with Aerosmith on a rap remake of that group’s Walk This Way. After that single and video conquered radio and MTV, the racial and stylistic barriers between rock and rap were never again quite so pronounced. But Run-DMC remains probably the most important group in rap history, and its albums deserve careful scrutiny, as historical documents and sometimes as more. The group's self-titled debut album, released in 1984, remains its most powerful and immediate studio record, the LP that forever tore rap away from disco and made it its own thing. Famously, the album's production removed all the glossy live-band funk popular on the rap records of the day and replaced it with a harsh, spacey stripped-down electronic boom
Raising Hell, Run-DMC’s third album, is widely regarded as marking the start of hip-hop’s first golden age, and heralding the explosion of sample-based rap experimentation that characterised the genre’s dazzling next half-decade. The follow-up LP was delayed while an accompanying feature film was made, and by the time Tougher Than Leather arrived in 1988, hip-hop was moving at a speed few genres ever reach: any artist would struggle to remain at its cutting edge. The album fared better than the film, but the group’s career never touched the heights of Raising Hell again.
