Burn is the eighth studio album by the English hard rock band Deep Purple, released in February 1974. This was the first Deep Purple album to feature then-unknown David Coverdale on vocals and Glenn Hughes, from Trapeze, on bass and vocals. The album was recorded in Montreux, Switzerland, in November 1973, with the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio.

Burn is the eight studio album by Deep Purple, recorded in late 1973 and released in February 1974. It was also the first album to feature the so-called Mark III line-up, that formed after Ian Gillan left the band in mid-73 and Roger Glover was asked to leave by Ritchie Blackmore. The album marked the beginning of a new direction in the band's music. With the addition of the blues-oriented lead singer, David Coverdale, and the funk-influenced rock bass player and singer, Glenn Hughes, the band started to drift away from the traditional hard rock sound.

Although it shook the band's fan base to its core, the acrimonious departure of vocalist Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover served to rejuvenate Deep Purple in time for 1973's aptly named Burn album, which unquestionably showed huge improvement over their lackluster previous effort, Who Do We Think We Are. And in an interesting twist rarely attempted before or since, new recruits David Coverdale (vocals) and Glenn Hughes (bass and vocals, ex-Trapeze) traded lead singing duties on virtually every one of its songs - an enviable tag team, as both possessed exceptional pipes.
