Roberto Roena (born January 16, 1940 in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican salsa music percussionist, orchestra leader, and dancer. Roena was one of the original members of El Gran Combo. He later became the leader of his own band, "Roberto Roena y Su Apollo Sound", arguably one of the best Latin salsa bands in Puerto Rico.

Arrangers Louis García, Julio "Gunda" Merced, and Papo Lucca continue to define the overall sound of the band, giving an unparalleled level of elegance. Tunes like "Regaño al Corazón," "Guaguancó del Adiós," and "Lamento de Concepción" are exceptional. However, the icing on the cake is "El Progreso," masterfully arranged in elegant simplicity by Elías Lopés, Roena's longtime associate and Apollo Sound co-founder. One of the band's finest albums, still pertinent today. Vocals by Tito Cruz and Carlos Santos.
